Green Light for Krishna Saw Mill: A Step Towards Sustainable Industry in Tiruvannamalai

Great news for the industrial landscape of Tiruvannamalai District! M/s. Krishna Saw Mill has officially received its “Consent for Establishment” from the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB). This crucial approval, dated July 3, 2025, marks a significant step for the saw mill, categorizing it as a “GREEN” industry, aligning with the “Lifestyle for Environment” (LiFE) initiative.

The saw mill, located at S.F. No. 360/8A, 360/9A & 360/10A, Irumbedu village, Arani Taluk, is authorized to establish facilities for the manufacture of “Sawed & Planned Wood” at a rate of 1.1 Ton/Day. This consent is valid until March 31, 2030, or until the industry obtains its “Consent to Operate,” whichever comes first.

To ensure environmental responsibility, Krishna Saw Mill will be implementing robust air pollution control measures, including a Dust Collection Chamber for its cutting and planning sections, to manage fugitive emissions5.

Key Commitments for Krishna Saw Mill:

  • Environmental Compliance: The unit must obtain a “Consent to Operate” from TNPCB before commencing operations. They are also required to ensure their air pollution control measures meet the prescribed standards.
  • Green Initiatives: A strong emphasis is placed on developing and maintaining a green belt of adequate width around the premises. The mill is also encouraged to promote the “Mission LiFE” logo and mascot among employees and report on their adoption of “Mission LiFE” action points.
  • Waste Management: The mill is strictly prohibited from using “use and throw away plastics” within its premises during the establishment period, promoting eco-friendly alternatives instead.
  • Community Responsibility: The saw mill is expected to operate without generating complaints during its establishment phase.
  • Regulatory Adherence: Any changes in products, quantities, emission sources, or management must be reported and approved by the Board. The unit must also comply with the Public Liability Insurance Act, 1991, if applicable.

This “Consent for Establishment” highlights the TNPCB’s commitment to fostering sustainable industrial growth. By adhering to these conditions, Krishna Saw Mill is poised to contribute to the local economy while upholding environmental protection standards.
