The consent order, issued on January 9, 2025, allows VVDN Technologies to establish a significant facility The authorized site spans multiple survey numbers and is located in the SIPCOT Industrial Park

What does this mean for VVDN?

The establishment consent is valid until October 16, 2031, or until the company obtains a “Consent to Operate,” whichever comes first It permits the establishment of a large-scale electronic equipment manufacturing unit with a total built-up area of 135,611 square meters. The facility will include production blocks, a corporate office, kitchen and storage areas, a creche, training facilities, a clinic, and various other essential infrastructure.

Environmental Responsibility at the Forefront

The TNPCB’s consent comes with a strong emphasis on environmental protection. VVDN Technologies is required to adhere to several special and general conditions, including:

  • Air Pollution Control: The unit must install stacks and acoustic enclosures for its nine 2000 KVA D.G. sets to control emissions and noise. Additional air pollution control measures like Retrofit Emission Control Devices (RECD), wet scrubbers, or dry catalytic convertors will also be required for the DG sets.
  • Green Belt Development: A minimum of 25% of the total area must be developed as a green belt by planting tall tree saplings under the “Kurunkadugal scheme”.
  • Dust Control: During the construction phase, adequate dust control measures such as Netlon wind nets/barriers, water sprinklers for loading/unloading construction materials, and along temporary roads within the premises are mandated.
  • Waste Management: The unit must comply with the Construction and Demolition Waste Management Rules, 2016, and use recovered materials where possible.
  • Compliance with EC: The unit must comply with all conditions of the Environmental Clearance previously accorded by SEIAA, Tamil Nadu.
  • “Mission LiFE” Promotion: VVDN is encouraged to use and popularize the “Mission LiFE” logo and mascot and encourage employees to adopt “Mission LiFE” action points, reporting on their progress half-yearly.

It’s important to note that this “Consent for Establishment” is not a “Consent to Operate.” VVDN Technologies must obtain the Consent to Operate from the Board before commencing any activity. This requires a request to be made at least thirty days before trial production.

This approval marks an exciting phase for VVDN Technologies and highlights the commitment to sustainable industrial development in Tamil Nadu.
